ABC, one of the biggest suppliers of leather soled shoes, has been operating in China, our biggest market, for 15 years. In January 2004 we ran a marketing campaign and in February 2004 sales increased by 5%. Our main competitor Abacon, lost 3% of market share and therefore has been diversifying their product range. Abacon gained in the sports shoe market which is growing area of sales. ABC is exploring new products to gain a foothold in sports shoe market. ABC have spent a lot on R&D over the last year and a half and new product, durable and waterproof sports shoes, will be launched in next January. ABC hopes to break into sports shoe market and secure competitive market share.
