our story

I’ve lost my tongue when I hear that my wife’s wedding ring had fallen off the back of a lorry. I was in two minds because I didn’t know whether to buy her a new one or to marry her again. I’ve let the cat out of the bag when I spoke with my friends. They told me that I must tighten my belt. Finally, I decided to bring her some flowers. She’s been taken for a ride and I’ve got butterflies in my stomach thinking if she would love me as much as before.

idiom story

According to the local rag, our postman kicked the bucket last week. As he was a blackleg his colleagues gave him the cold shoulder because they were down in the mouth. Three of them, who were a pain in the neck, tried to kill him. Although they failed, now they are behind the bars. After leaving jail they came back to work but their boss didn’t want them working there anymore so he gave them a golden handshake. Some days after the events, they got on like a house on fire with a business man and he offered them the job of their lives. Then, you could find a crow’s feet on their face. Now they are working full of beans.

Re: Baltic States’ Market Developments

Thanks for your information. Krista Kilvet will be interested in your reports on Baltic States’ demand for consumer products over the next five years. By your presentation with political and economic back ground, the board would decide the large investment in the near future.

HK tourism consultant

Dear Mr. Chung,
As you requested we have analysed Hong Kong’s potential as a tourist destination.

Firstly I would like to start with the most positive aspects.
As you may know Hong Kong is a mixture of cultures which means very different people, food and traditions altogether. It is an amazing destination which is easy to visit because of the convenient public transportation network, efficient banking service and not very expensive restaurants.
On the other hand, those tourists who like to enjoy countryside while travelling can find spectacular views and go hiking choosing a wide range of mountain trails.

Secondly, I’m afraid that pollution could be a little problem since tourists might feel a little uncomfortable. Unfortunately, a few citizens haven’t got the appropriate manners so travellers could feel like not being welcome. Finally, I would like to remind you that Hong Kong is a quite busy city meaning that accommodation is a little expensive.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you require further information.
Sincerely yours,

Mr. Tou

Island of Bozburun

After two months of field work at the island of Bozburun we’ve found out the following conclusions:

Although we thought the island may be a resort it seems that the range of the activities may be a bit limited. I think that tourist could have slight difficulties to enjoy their selves and as a result they wouldn’t spend much.

On the other hand, our investment in this project has made a good profit. Actually, 5 hotels have invested in the island and a casino may join the project next week. I’m afraid that the investments could fail because of the quality construction. To be honest the quality is not very good. Besides, unspoilt areas might be a bit damaged if we run our present project.

In that case I would like to present you some solutions that I think they may help.
First of all it would be better to slightly improve our product strategy. That might be better if we attract tourists from other areas so that we could improve our aims. In order to achieve it I think it might be useful to create a cultural tourism in order to let them realize that we are offering a wide range of activities. In that case, a customer service office may be a bit necessary. I would like to suggest that you prepare a training course for the staff making sure that they would be ready to answer all kind of enquiries.

I guess the idea I’m providing to you may sound quite expensive but let me tell you that I’m pretty sure there aren’t other ways to solve the problem.

Fumiko & Iris

Hi Paul,
How are you? I have bad news for you. I can’t meet you at next weekend’s conference because I have to go to Shanghai on a business trip. I’m really sorry but we would have to meet another day.

I would like to talk about my relationship with my boyfriend with you during our weekend’s meeting but as I won’t be able to do so I would like to tell you my worries by email.

As you know me and Tony are going through a very critical time and we are not feeling comfortable with each other. I’m really thinking on leaving him but I’m afraid because I’m not sure if I would be able to live without him. I was wondering if you could give me some advice? If you were me, what would you do?

I hope you can reply my email as soon as possible. I’ll be waiting for it.

Yours,
Ana

Dear Ana
I’m sorry to hear that you will not be able to join the conference. I would have liked to meet you there, because we could have talked about your problem.

I am really worried about what is going on between you and Tony. It’s unbelievable. Because you two matched very well together.

I would like to meet you after your business trip in person. Are you available Monday week?

I’m looking forward to seeing you soon.

Best Regards, Paul

Iris & Fumi

Dear Mr. Boo

Today, I would like to talk about the current project that I’m working on.

Now our government has asked my company to plan a project to design a new road network.
My town’s existing road network is not efficient anymore. Because more and more people are having their own cars, there are always traffic congestions. If we try to go from city A to city B, it takes around three hours. Our aim is to set up the most appropriate road network.

In this year, we got USD100mm budget. 20 people are working as a team. And we are using out resources to improve our work. At the moment, the plan was progressed on time. It seems like we will complete it within the budget.

Some team workers are short of skills, so we have to train them up. And we need to demolish some parts of town, in order to set up a new road. However, people who are living there hesitate to move. We still don’t know how we can solve the problem.

I will let you know the progress in near future. If you are interested it, please visit our office. You can take a look at our project.

Best regards,
Bee
